Within LeaveWeb, Supervisors approve or deny leave requests and return from leave requests. An officer can approve leave requests for anyone, even those of higher rank. Enlisted personnel can only approve leave requests for anyone of equal or lesser rank. Civilians can approve leave requests for anyone. A Supervisor cannot approve his or her own leave request.
Commander Approval Required (CAR) leave is routed first to a Supervisor to concur/non-concur. If the Supervisor does not concur, a remark is added to the leave history stating why the leave is denied. If the Supervisor concurs, a remark is added to the leave history, and the leave is routed to a Commander for approval.
LeaveWeb makes a digital annotation at each step of the leave request process. When a user submits a request, they are required to sign the request. An approver will also leave a digital fingerprint on the leave request. The approval is recorded with the request before it can move to the CSS or Base FM for authorization. The digital annotation is displayed in the Request History panel and remains in LeaveWeb for 10 years.
Note:The following personnel can auto-approve/authorize their own leave: Commanders reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, or Assistant Vice Chief of Staff.
Supervisors/Backup Approvers, CSS Authorize, and Base Finance members have the ability to return members from leave (Return: Sign and Submit to Supervisor) for leave types A, A-R&R, D, F & T (NOT Rule 2 in conj w/ P or Rule 3)
